FAQs

How do I get a library card?

City of Eagle residents are eligible (as outlined in the Library Use policy) for an Eagle Public Library card. To set up your account, either visit the Library or complete this form.

Library cards for Boise, Ada Community, Caldwell, Meridian, Nampa, Garden City, and Kuna, may be issued by the Library, subject to the guidelines of the LYNX! Consortium and respective libraries.

Non-resident Eagle Public Library accounts may be established for guests who do not live in the areas covered by the LYNX! Consortium libraries. Such accounts are subject to the Library Use policy and the current fee for non-resident accounts.

I just received my library card ... what do I need to know?

With your new card, you’re able to:

  • Checkout books, music, movies and more!
  • Download or stream digital books, audiobooks, magazines, comics, movies, and music from your home computer or mobile device.
  • Check due dates, reserve items, or renew borrowed items.
  • Use the Library’s online research tools from beyond the walls of the library; any time, any place.
  • Use the Library’s public Internet computers.

Card Member Responsibilities:

  • Your library card is for your use only.  You accept responsibility for all lost or damaged materials borrowed on your card or on the card(s) of your dependent child(ren).
  • If your card is lost or stolen, please contact the library immediately.  You are responsible for items borrowed against your account before the card is reported lost.
  • If a borrowed item is damaged or lost, you’ll be asked to pay for the repair or replacement and processing of the item as needed.  Please do not purchase a replacement copy yourself.
  • Your card will expire in three years.  Renewing your account is easy; just call the Library.
  • If your address changes, please bring verification of your new address to the Library.

Fines and Fees: The Library is supported through property taxes collected by the City of Eagle.  There are no fees to borrow items and late fines are a thing of the past!  Except for mobile hotspots, items borrowed from the Eagle Public Library do not accrue fines. Mobile Hotspot late fines are $5.00 per day.

Requesting Items: Requesting items to be held for you is an easy way to get materials that are checked out or to have materials brought from its home library to your Eagle Public Library for convenient pick-up.  Each account is able to have fifteen (15) items on hold and/or requested at any one time.  Items will be held at the Eagle Public Library for seven (7) days.

Borrowing Guidelines:  Curious about the borrowing period for a particular type of item, how many of each item type you’re able to borrow, or if the due date of a borrowed item automatically renews?  Click here.

Your Eagle Public Library is a member of the LYNX! Consortium of Libraries and may be used at the following libraries: Ada Community Libraries (Ada Victory Branch, Ada Lake Hazel Branch, Ada Hidden Springs Branch, Ada Star Branch), Boise Public Library (the Main Library, Library at Bown Crossing, Library at Cole & Ustick, Library at Collister, Library at Hillcrest), Caldwell Public Library, Garden City Public Library, Kuna Library District, Meridian Library District (Cherry Lane Library, Silverstone Branch Library), and the Nampa Public Library.

How do I add my card to my digital wallet?
Click here and complete the form.
How do I log into my account?
Start at eaglepubliclibrary.org. Near the top left corner of the page, click on My Account . Once the page loads, enter your library account number (it’s on the back of your library card). Enter only the numbers, no spaces. Enter your PIN, which is probably the last four digits of the number you gave when you registered for an account. Press the submit button and, if all is right with the world, you’ll be logged in. From here, you’re able to see what’s borrowed and the due dates, to place holds against an item, and to see the status of requested items.
What is my PIN?
Library staff are not able to see your PIN, but it’s probably the last four digits of the number you gave when you registered for an account. If you try this and it still doesn’t work, call the Library (208-939-6814) to request that the PIN be reset.
What do I do if I lose my library card?
You are responsible for any activity until the loss is reported, so please contact the library immediately. Call 208-939-6814 to speak with a staff member.
How many days may an item be borrowed?
View item borrowing limits here.
How do I return items?
Materials may be returned through the materials handling system located in the building’s lobby. Using the materials handling system helps ensure that items are correctly removed form your borrower’s account. Additionally, there are three outside return locations at the Eagle Public Library: the return bins in the parking lot, the exterior return slot just to the west of the main doors, and an exterior return slot on the east side of the building near the accessible parking.

Items may also be returned to any of the Treasure Valley public libraries (Ada, Boise, Meridian, Caldwell, Nampa, Kuna or Garden City).

How do I renew an item I borrowed?

Eagle Public Library automatically renews checked out items for you. Most items will be automatically renewed up to five times unless your item is on hold for another cardholder. Any items with a hold placed by another cardholder or that has reached the maximum number of renewals for that checkout period will not be renewed. Some items in our collection are not eligible for renewal. If you have chosen to receive notices by email, you will get a notice that items have been renewed. The notice will provide the new due dates for each item and the number of potential renewals remaining. You will also be notified of any items that weren’t renewed because of holds placed by other cardholders or because the item is out of renewals.

Eligible Eagle Public Library materials will be automatically renewed 2 days before the due date. Materials can be renewed prior to the 2 day timeframe in person, online, and by phone. To renew your materials online, go to My Account. Log-in using your library card number and PIN (Personal Identification Number – usually the last 4 digits of your telephone number). From this screen you may renew your items. To renew your materials by phone, call 208-384-4450 any time, day or night, to use the automated telephone renewal system. You must be a Treasure Valley Library (Eagle, Meridian, Boise, Garden City Nampa, Caldwell, Ada Community, or Kuna) card holder to use this service. The system will provide you with an account summary, allow you to list titles you’ve borrowed, list titles ready for pick up, list titles you have requested, and renew your items. You will need your library card number and PIN, and the item barcode numbers of materials to be renewed.

Interlibrary loans may be renewed if approved by the lending library. To request a renewal for these items, call 939-6814 or email eplill@cityofeagle.org one week before the due date. Customer accounts are blocked from renewing items if there are fees of $10.00 or more on the account, if you have overdue items, if the library card has been reported lost or stolen, or is expired, or if there is information in the account that requires updating. If your account is blocked or your items are overdue, visit or call the Library during regular business hours and a staff member will assist you.

Are there fines for overdue items?
The Eagle Public Library does not charge late fees for most items. Items borrowed from other LYNX! Consortium libraries are subject to the fine policies of the owning library.

Once an item is 30 days overdue from its final due date (see section on auto-renewals), the price of the item plus a $5.00 processing fee is added to your account. Upon return of the items, these charges may be removed. Once an item is 90 days overdue, charges will not be removed. Payment can be made via credit card (online or in-person), or by check or cash in the Library.

The Library fee schedule is here.

How do I understand the status of a requested item?
When checking the status of requested items, the status of the item is identified as one of the following:
Active: When a hold request is placed in the queue, its status is automatically set to Active. The system is actively looking for items to fill the request. You can cancel an active request.
Pending: When an Active request can be filled by an item with a status of “In” at your library, or the request has been routed to another library that has the item with a status of “In”, the status changes to Pending.
In-Transit: When a requested item has been found and sent to the designated pick-up location the status changes to In-transit.
Held: When the requested item has been received at the designated pick-up location the status changes to held. It is now ready to be picked up.
How do I request an item that is not in the catalog?
Library staff are happy to help locate items if you are unsure if the item exists in our system. If you have verified the item is not in our collection, there are a couple of different ways to get materials that are unavailable in our system. You can suggest that we purchase the item or you can request that we borrow the it from another library. Click here to request an item.
How do I see a list of current job openings?
All Eagle Public Library and City of Eagle job openings, employment application, and application instructions are posted here.  Applications are accepted only for posted positions.
