Chromebook Pack Policy

Eagle Public Library
Chromebook Pack Policy
Adopted by the Board of Trustees, March 13, 2024

1. Purpose
In an effort to increase digital access for area residents, Chromebook packs (a Chromebook and a filtered mobile hotspot) are available to borrow from the Eagle Public Library.

2. Borrowing Guidelines
Chromebook packs are available to any Lynx Library Consortium member library account holder, 18 years or older, with an account in good standing. The Chromebook packs allow up to 10 devices to connect at a time with unlimited data.  The Chromebook packs are portable and work within the T-Mobile network area.

3. Library Responsibility
The Library is not responsible for any liability, damages, content accessed, or expense resulting from the use or misuse of the device, connection of the device to other electronic devices, or data loss resulting from use of the device.  Patrons shall not tamper with the device or accessories.

Access to the internet through Library devices such as computers, tablets, and hotspots, is offered to the public subject to the following:

  1. Available resources,
  2. Usage for lawful purposes only; and
  3. User compliance with other Library policies and regulations pertaining to technology use and public internet access.

4. Borrower Responsibility
Patrons accept full responsibility for a Chromebook packs while it is checked-out to their account. Replacement costs and a processing fee will be charged to devices lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair. Devices deemed repairable will receive professional services with charges placed on the cardholders account.

Fees for delinquent or damaged devices follow the City of Eagle fees schedule.  Devices are deactivated once the device is three (3) days overdue.  The Library reserves the right to refuse service to patrons who abuse equipment or who are late in returning electronic devices.

5. Amendment of Policy
The Library Director may approve exceptions to this policy.

The Eagle Public Library Board of Trustees reserves the right to review and amend this policy at any time.
